More good news about lobster populations, as the latest government survey data suggests abundance may be on the rise. 

Twice each year, the National Marine Fisheries Service sends its research vessel to sea for several weeks to sample populations of fish and shellfish.  Both of the 2006 surveys recorded increases in lobster abundance over 2005.

Two figures are presented below:

  • The total weight of all lobsters harvested.

  • The average weight caught per survey haul.
